Ukrainian steel product exports decrease in Q1

According to the data released by Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in the January-March period of the current year Ukraine's exports of steel products decreased by 10 percent compared to the same period of last year to 6.1 million mt.

In the given period, Ukraine's rolled steel product exports decreased by 11.4 percent year on year to 5.4 million mt, including 2.3 million mt of semis, 1.6 million mt of flat steel and 1.5 million mt of long steel. In January-March of the current year, Ukrainian exports of pig iron increased by 4.5 percent year on year to 350,000 mt. Exports of steel pipes from Ukraine increased by 15 percent in the given period compared to January-March 2011, rising to 520,000 mt.
