Ukrainian rolled steel output forecast to decline in 2012

According to Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in 2012 Ukraine's rolled steel production will decline by 4-5 percent compared to 2011, to 30 million mt.

According to Metallurgprom's forecast, pig iron output in Ukraine will total 29 million mt in 2012, while Ukrainian production of crude steel in the year is expected to be 33.5 million mt.

In the first seven months of the current year, Ukraine registered a seven percent decline in its finished steel product output to 17.320 million mt, a four percent decrease in its crude steel output to 19.385 million mt, and a one percent rise in its pig iron production to 16.806 million mt, all compared to the same period of the previous year.
