Ukrainian freight transportation rises in January-May

According to Ukraine's State Committee of Statistics, in January-May this year freight cargoes transported in the country increased by 14.4 percent year on year to 298.8 million mt, while the freight turnover grew by 13.8 percent amounting to 159.4 billion mt/kilometer.

Accordingly, during the period in question, cargoes of ferrous scrap increased by 53.1 percent, transportation of iron and manganese ore went up by 37.5 percent, cargoes of coke rose by 27.7 percent, and cargoes of ferrous metals increased by 16.7 percent, all compared to the same period last year.
