Ukraine’s semi-finished steel exports down 32.1 percent in January-May

In the January-May period of this year, Ukraine exported 3.74 million mt of semi-finished steel products, down 32.1 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2014, worth a total of $129.56 million, down 47.9 percent year on year, according to the data released by State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.

The exports mostly went to Egypt (27.21 percent), Turkey (23.49 percent) and Italy (19.06 percent) in terms of value.

In the first five months of this year, Ukraine imported 3,217 mt of semi-finished steel products, down 82.3 percent year on year, worth a total of $1.41 million, down 86.5 percent year on year. The main supplier of semi-finished steel product imports in the given period was Russia, which supplied 84.16 percent of the total import volume.
