Ukraine’s ZZF to work at reduced capacity in 2009

Overall in 2009 the Ukrainian ferroalloy producer Zaporozhye Ferro Alloys Plant (ZZF) expects to operate at 75-80 percent of its production capacities, manufacturing a monthly average of about 30,000-35,000 mt of ferroalloy products. The output is to be directed mostly to the domestic Ukrainian market.

In January-March 2009, ZZF is to maintain operations at just 10 of its 31 furnaces, working at about 20-22 percent of its total production capacity.

Moreover, until 2012 ZZF plans to invest around UAH 764 million (approx. $97.3 million) in the modernization of its production facilities' modernization.

In 2008, ZZF saw a reduction in its output of ferroalloy products of 21.4 percent year on year to 386,200 mt. ZZF has been delivering about 30-35 percent of its products to the domestic Ukrainian market, the rest of its products it was exporting to CIS EU, Asian and African countries.
