Ukraine’s pig iron exports down 24.3 percent in Q1

According to the data released by Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in the January-March period of this year Ukraine exported 434,259 mt of pig iron, down 24.3 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2014, worth a total of $129.224 million, down 39.8 percent year on year.

The exports mostly went to Italy (27.59 percent in monetary terms), the US (23.76 percent) and Turkey (17.77 percent).

In the first quarter of this year, Ukraine imported 2,374 mt of pig iron, down 30.9 percent year on year, worth a total of $763,000, down 46.1 percent year on year. The main supplier of pig iron imports in the first quarter this year was Russia, which supplied 96.2 percent of the total import volume.
