In 2015, Ukraine’s iron ore output totaled 80.37 million mt, down two percent year on year, while the country’s iron ore concentrate production decreased by two percent to 66.81 million mt, according to the data issued by Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom. In the given year, Ukrainian output of pellets declined by one percent year on year to 21.65 million mt.
Meanwhile, in 2015, iron ore enterprises of Ukraine increased exports of iron ore by 11.8 percent year on year to 45.7 million mt, with a value of $2.094 billion, down 37 percent year on year, according to the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine. In terms of value, the exports mostly went to China (45.33 percent), Poland (10.38 percent) and the Czech Republic (10.22 percent).
In the given year, Ukraine’s iron ore imports decreased by 29.8 percent year on year to 2.25 million mt, while the value of these imports fell by 56.4 percent year on year to $107.32 million. The main supplier of iron ore to Ukraine in 2015 was Russia, which supplied 99.96 percent of the total import volume.
