Ukraine's exports in May
According to the data released by the State Committee of Statistics of Ukraine, the country's export of scrap rose 2.2 percent month on month to 64,090 tons and amounted to $13.76 million in May of 2006. However, year on year index shows 49.5 percent decrease in the export volumes of scrap during the given period. In the first five months of 2006, Ukraine exported 248,560 tons of scrap, which is by 63.2 percent less than in the first five months of 2005. In May, the exports of coke decreased 26.9 percent month on month to 19,190 tons and amounted to $2.33 million, while year on year index shows 82.2 percent decrease in Ukraine's export of coke. In the first five months of 2006, the country's exports of coke decreased 77.3 percent year on year to 169,250 tons. The exports of ferroalloys rose 28.8 percent month on month to 94,290 tons and amounted to $63.57 million in May of 2006. Thus, during the given period, the export of ferro silicon manganese rose 42.6 percent to 68,840 tons, that of ferrosilicon decreased 44.8 percent to 480 tons and that of ferromanganese decreased 0.5 percent to 13,680 tons. Year on year index shows 2.5 percent decrease in export of ferroalloys in May of 2006. In January-May of 2006, Ukraine's exports of ferroalloys decreased 10 percent year on year to 475,820 tons.
