Ukraine's exports drop in August 2006

According to the data released by Ukraine's State Committee of Statistics, the country's exports of semi-finished products decreased 22.2 percent month on month to 940,160 metric tons in August 2006. Export revenue totaled $364 million, showing a 21.4 percent drop. For the January-August 2006 period, Ukraine exported 8.4 million metric tons of semi-finished products, up 28.3 percent from the same period of last year. Export revenue totaled $2.9 billion for the given period. In August 2006, Ukrainian exports of flat rolled decreased 2.1 percent month on month to 746,750 metric tons, amounting to $397 million in revenue. In particular, the exports of HR decreased 9.7 percent to 564,910 metric tons; those of CR decreased 12.8 percent to 82,890 metric tons, while exports of other flat products rose 135.5 percent to 98,950 metric tons. For the January-August 2006 period, the country's exports of flat rolled dropped by 4.5 percent year on year to 288,010 metric tons, amounting to $2.7 billion in revenue. Ukrainian exports of long products decreased 0.1 percent month on month to 611,970 metric tons in August 2006. The resulting revenue totaled $286.6 million. For the January-August 2006 period, the country exported 4.6 million metric tons of long products, up 19 percent compared to the same period of last year. The export revenue totaled $1.9 billion.
