Ukraine’s crude steel output declines by 28.4 percent in January-May

In the January-May period of the current year, Ukraine's finished steel output decreased by 29.7 percent to 8 million mt, its crude steel output fell 28.4 percent to 9.24 million mt and its pig iron production decreased by 30.4 percent to 8.36 million mt, all year on year, according to the data issued by Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom.

In the same period, the country's metallurgical coke output declined by 40.6 percent year on year to 4.25 million mt, while steel pipe production decreased by 40.1 percent to 368,200 mt.

Meanwhile, in May alone, Ukraine produced 2.16 million mt of crude steel, 1.82 million mt of finished steel products, and 1.93 million mt of pig iron.
