Ukraine semi-finished steel exports down 33.7 percent in Q1

According to the data released by Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in the January-March period of this year Ukraine exported 1.83 million mt of semi-finished steel products, down 33.7 percent compared to the first quarter of 2014, worth a total of $703.7 million, down 46.7 percent year on year.

The exports mostly went to Egypt (24.09 percent in monetary terms), Italy (18.66 percent) and Turkey (23.9 percent).

In the first quarter of this year, Ukraine imported 2,398 mt of semi-finished steel products, down 69.2 percent year on year, worth a total of $915,000, down 79.9 percent year on year. The main supplier of semi-finished steel imports in the first quarter of this year was Russia, which supplied 90.93 percent of the total import volume.
