Ukraine issues production results for first two months

According to the preliminary data, in the first two months of the current year Ukraine registered a 5.5 percent decrease year on year in its finished steel product output to 4.628 million mt, a 4.6 percent decrease in its crude steel output to 5.283 million mt but a 0.65 percent rise in its pig iron production to 2.647 million mt.

The country's production of metallurgical coke in the given period went down by one percent year on year to 3.143 million mt during the first two months of 2012.

In the January-February period this year, Ukraine produced 10.830 million mt of iron ore concentrate and 3.778 million mt of iron ore pellets - up 4.1 period and 12.7 percent respectively compared to the same period last year.

In February alone, Ukraine produced 2.146 million mt of finished steel products - down 13.7 percent, 2.464 million mt of crude steel - down 12.6 percent, 2.174 million mt of pig iron - down 12.1 percent, and 1.492 million mt of metallurgical coke - down 9.2 percent, all on month-on-month basis.
