Ukraine issues Jan-May steel export data

According to the data for the first five months of 2010, Ukraine's exports of steel pipes decreased by 17.4 percent year on year to 449,080 mt, while its semi-finished steel product exports dropped by 6.4 percent year on year to about 4.786 million mt.

Meanwhile, in January-May this year, the country's exports of flat rolled steel increased by 23.1 percent to 2.893 million mt (including 2.511 million mt of hot rolled products - up 26.9 percent, and 355,200 mt of cold rolled products - down 0.3 percent), and its exports of long steel went up by 36.8 percent to 2.548 million mt, both compared to the same period last year.

In addition, during the period in question, Ukraine registered a four percent increase in its pig iron exports to 577,300 mt, a 51.7 percent rise in its coke exports to 519,550 mt, a 62.3 percent growth in its iron ore exports to 13.084 million mt, and a 68.6 percent in its scrap exports to 331,750 mt, all compared to January-May 2009.
