In 2006
Ukraine saw a 10 percent increase in its steel exports year on year to 31.7 million metric tons.
In particular, during the period in question Ukrainian exports of billets increased by 18.7 percent, exports of
longs increased by 17.9 percent (including a 20.8 percent rise in
rebar exports and a 20.2 percent increase in
wire rod exports) and exports for steel pipes increased by 16.8 percent year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 7.8 million, 7.12 million (including 5.6 million for
rebar and 241,800 for
wire rod) and 2.02 million.
However, in 2006
Ukraine saw an 8.3 percent decrease in its
flats exports year on year to 8.8 million metric tons.
In addition, during the given period
Ukraine exported 1.2 million metric tons of ferroalloys –up 7.2 percent, and 1.3 million metric tons of
pig iron – up 43.1 percent compared to the results of 2005.
