On July 25, 2007, the Ukrainian Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade (MKMT) has concluded an antidumping investigation into imports of steel rope and cable without coating (including steel ropes in closed coils) from the Russian Federation.
As a result, MKMT has decided against the imposition of the antidumping duty on Russian origin steel rope and cable, as it feels that any such AD duty would not comply with Ukrainian national interests.
MKMT's decision regarding the issue took effect on August 11, 2007.
As previously reported by SteelOrbis, in July 2006 MKMT imposed a preliminary antidumping duty on the subject products at a rate of 32.63 percent, which expired in November 2006. Meanwhile, due to the decision of the Ukrainian Antimonopoly Committee (AMK) to fine the initiators of the antidumping investigation in question, i.e., Silup and Stalkanat, MKMT decided to prolong the antidumping investigation into steel rope and cable imports from Russia in February 2007.
