UK car output up 5.6 percent

The UK National Statistics Office disclosed that the country's car production showed an upward trend in the third quarter of 2005 as demand from overseas increased. UK's car output rose 5.6 percent in the third quarter after a 0.9 percent rise in the previous quarter. An 8.2 percent rise in the export market contributed to the production increase. On the other hand, the domestic market continued to fall, dropping 1.7 percent. Compared with the same period a year earlier, car output for the export market increased 4.2 percent, while production for the domestic market fell 8.2 percent.
