UK basic metal output index down three percent in March from February

According to a report released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), in March this year the UK's seasonally adjusted production index of manufacturing decreased by 0.6 percent compared to February and was up by 2.3 percent year on year. According to the ONS, in the January-March period of this year, the country’s seasonally adjusted production index of manufacturing rose by 0.3 percent quarter on quarter and increased by 2.6 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in March the production index for basic metals and metal products decreased by 4.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and was down three percent compared to February. In the first quarter this year, the production index for basic metals and metal products narrowed by 2.2 percent compared to the previous quarter and decreased by 2.3 percent year on year.
