Uhde to build a coke plant for Hyundai

The largest German steel producer ThyssenKrupp Steel has announced that its plantmaker subsidiary Uhde has been awarded a contract to build a new coke plant for Hyundai Steel in South Korea.

The planned coke plant, which will have an annual capacity of 3.2 million mt, will form part of Hyundai Steel's new integrated steel mill, the construction of which is currently in progress at Dangjin in Chungnam Province. The contract for the new plant will be carried out by a consortium consisting of Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co., Ltd. and Uhde GmbH.

According to the statement issued by ThyssenKrupp,  Uhde's share is approx. €150 million ($202.4 million) of the total order value of about  €250 million ($337.5 million).
