Uğur Dalbeler, IREPAS chairman and CEO of Turkish steelmaker Çolakoğlu Metalurji AŞ, gave the opening speech at the SteelOrbis 2012 Fall Conference & 67th IREPAS Meeting in Munich held on September 30-October 2.

In his address, Mr. Dalbeler stated, "We are going through challenging times and the situation is not as positive as we expected," adding that producers, traders and raw material suppliers are all in the same boat.

The IREPAS chairman also said that, while everybody agrees that there is currently great pressure on prices, margins are the real problem. Concluding his welcome address, Mr. Dalbeler said, "We need to focus on how to regain the margins which we lost quite some time ago."
