The Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates (
UAE) is considering imposing an export tax of AED 250/mt ($68/mt) for
scrap shipments, according to market sources.
UAE-based sources tell SteelOrbis that they believe the proposal for the
scrap export duty will likely become official, though the implementation date is yet to be announced.
The products to be subject to the export duty are classified under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 72045000, 72044900, 72044100, 72043000, 72042900, 72042100 and 72041000.
