In October this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 66,518 units, falling by four percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 47,954 units, down six percent year on year. Meanwhile, in January-October period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 759,715 units, up 33 percent on year-on-year basis.
In the January-October period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 806,825 units, up 12 percent, while passenger car exports increased by two percent to 487,378 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 276,925 small trucks, up 27 percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports decreased by seven percent to $17.8 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $5.63 billion, decreasing by seven percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In October of the current year, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 44,681 units, up one percent, while passenger car imports totaled 36,108 units, down one percent, both year on year. In the first ten months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 501,368, up 33 percent, while passenger car imports reached 409,631 units, rising by 33 percent, both compared to the same period of 2014.
