Turkish metals manufacture turnover down 15.4% in Nov from Oct

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in November 2011 increased by 28.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and was down by 13.6 percent from October 2011.

In November, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey improved by 38 percent year on year and registered a decrease of 15.4 percent from the previous month. This figure constitutes the highest month-on-month decrease recorded in January-November 2011, while on year-on year basis the last decline in the index was recorded in January 2010.

On the other hand, the highest year-on-year increase among industrial sub-sectors was seen in fabricated metal products manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, with 44.6 percent.

Meanwhile, in November 2011, the monthly industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 11.7 percent from October and was up 34.1 percent year on year. On year-on-year basis, the index has been trending up since January 2010, while November is the second successive month in which a month-on-month decrease has been observed.
