According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in April this year the producer price index (PPI) for Turkish industry in general rose by 0.1 percent over March and was up 7.65 percent year on year, while an average rise of 10.7 percent was registered for the latest twelve months.
In April, the PPI for the domestic basic metal industry rose by 0.3 percent month on month and was up 13.3 percent compared to April 2011. Meanwhile, the average increase in the latest twelve months was 23.7 percent.
On the other hand, during the given month, the PPI for domestic manufacture of metal products, except machinery, remained unchanged compared to the previous month and was up seven percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the sector in question, an average increase of 9.72 percent in the PPI index was registered in the latest twelve months.
