Turkish wire rod exports down 4.41 percent in Q1

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in March this year Turkey's wire rod exports decreased by 24.11 percent year on year to 76,110 metric tons, down 17.37 percent month on month. The revenue from these exports amounted to $45.18 million, down 26.82 percent year on year and decreasing by 17.52 percent month on month. In the given month, the average price of Turkey's wire rod exports stood at $593.58/mt, decreasing by $1.12/mt month on month, and down from the average of $615.54/mt recorded in the same month of 2013.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter this year Turkey's wire rod exports decreased by 4.41 percent to 284,304 metric tons, while the value of these exports amounted to $169.04 million, down 6.64 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
 
In the first quarter, Turkey's wire rod exports to Israel rose by 99.20 percent year on year to 75,574 metric tons, ahead of Morocco, which received 43,171 metric tons compared to zero wire rod imports from Turkey in the same quarter of the previous year. Morocco was followed by Libya, which imported 31,873 metric tons of wire rod from Turkey in the given period, up 14.03 percent year on year. In March of the current year, Turkey's top wire rod export destination was Israel, which received a total of 21,644 metric tons.
