According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first quarter of this year Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) exports amounted to 26,208 mt, decreasing by 53.78 percent, while the revenue from these exports totaled $27.88 million, down 53.10 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Turkey's PPGI exports had totaled 202,109 metric tons in 2013.
In March this year, Turkey's PPGI exports decreased by 24.75 percent year on year to 13,593 metric tons, but were up 71.56 percent month on month. The revenue from these exports amounted to $13.84 million, down 27.30 percent year on year and increasing by 63.09 percent month on month.
In the first quarter of the current year, Turkey's main PPGI export destinations were Azerbaijan, Romania and Russia with PPGI exports to Azerbaijan down 30.71 percent to 3,858 mt, exports to Romania decreasing by 35.90 percent to 3,385 mt and exports to Russia down 86.74 percent to 3,471 mt, all on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in March this year Russia was Turkey's top export destination for PPGI, receiving 1,595 mt, down 56.97 percent year on year.
