Turkish motor vehicle sales rise 53.9 percent in H1

According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in the first half of 2011 motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 445,090 units, rising by 53.9 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.


In the January-June period of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 289,746 units, regressing by 55.5 percent year on year.


In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 417,348 units, rising by 4.5 percent year on year, while its passenger car exports amounted to 232,138 units, down two percent. The revenue for these exports sales totaled $9.42 billion for total motor vehicle exports, rising by 15.8 percent, while the revenue of passenger car exports totaled $3.33 billion, rising by 1.1 percent, all compared to the first six months of 2010.


In the first half of 2011, Turkey's motor vehicle imports increased by 59.7 percent, while its passenger car imports rose by 58.1 percent year on year, totaling 265,251 units and 200,145 units respectively.
