Turkish motor vehicle sales rise 26 percent in January-October

According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in the first 10 months of 2011 motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 707,303 units, rising by 26.1 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

In the January-October period of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 459,611 units, rising by 27.6 percent year on year.

In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 661,799 units, rising by 4.9 percent year on year, while its passenger car exports amounted to 370,733 units, falling slightly by 0.1 percent compared to the same period last year. The revenue for these export sales reached $15.45 billion for total motor vehicle exports, rising by 17.3 percent, while the revenue of passenger car exports totaled $5.5 billion, rising by 4.5 percent, both compared to the first 10 months of 2010.

In the first 10 months of 2011, Turkey's motor vehicle imports increased by 27.8 percent, while its passenger car imports rose by 27.6 percent year on year, totaling 417,499 units and 317,354 units respectively.
