Turkish motor vehicle sales enjoy demand revival in February

According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in February this year motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 32,316 units, increasing by 41.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and up 53.54 percent month on month, as a result of the revival in demand due to intensive sales campaigns by carmakers.

In the month in question, the country's passenger car sales amounted to 20,651 units, rising by 42.5 percent year on year and climbing by 63.97 percent month on month.

In February, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 66,336 units, rising by 69 percent year on year and up 10.56 percent over January. The revenue generated by motor vehicle exports surged by 46.1 percent, compared to February 2009, to $1.36 billion. In the given month, Turkey imported 19,721 motor vehicles, which is 45.4 percent higher compared to February 2009.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, Turkey's motor vehicle output in February totaled 82,521 units, increasing by 83.8 percent year on year and up by 10.32 percent over the month of January.
