Turkish motor vehicle output up six percent in April

In April this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 98,991 units, up six percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the given month, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 62,594 units, up 22 percent, while commercial vehicle production amounted to 36,397 units, down 14 percent, both compared to April 2013.

Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 354,482 units, falling four percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 228,999 units, up 18 percent, while commercial vehicle production stood at 125,483 units, down 29 percent, both year on year.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in April this year was 73 percent, while it stood at 72 percent in March.
