Turkish motor vehicle output up four percent in March

In March this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 127,792 units, rising by four percent year on year and up 5.8 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the first three months of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 346,072 units, up three percent year on year.
 
In March alone, passenger car output amounted to 77,051 units, increasing by six percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 50,741 units, up one percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the January-March period, passenger car output totaled 207,996 units, up five percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 138,076 units, rising by one percent, both compared to the same period of 2015.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 89 percent in March this year, while the rate was 80 percent in the first three months of the year.
