In March this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 89,104 units, rising by 75 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automative Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 61,676 units, up 63 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 184.214 units, up 50 percent on year-on-year basis.
In the January-March period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 253,679 units, up 23 percent, while passenger car exports increased by 16 percent to 158,642 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 78,584 small trucks, up 31 percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports decreased by six percent to $5.32 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $1.76 billion, decreasing by three percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In March of the current year, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 55,851 units, while passenger car imports totaled 45,445 units, rising by 58 percent and 55 percent year on year, respectively. In the first quarter of this year, the country's total motor vehicle imports totaled 114,337, up 38 percent, while passenger car imports reached 92,246 units, rising by 36 percent, both compared to the same period of 2014.
