Turkish motor vehicle output up 4% in April

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in April this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 96,834 units, decreasing by 6.1 percent month on month and up by four percent from April 2012.
 
In April, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 51,211 units, up 4.9 percent year on year and down 4.3 percent month on month. In April, small truck production amounted to 35,671 units – up five percent compared to April 2012 and down 8.85 percent compared to March this year.
 
Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 383,336 units, down one percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 193,637 units decreasing by 4.7 percent year on year, while commercial vehicle production stood at 176,817 units, up six percent compared to the corresponding period of 2012.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in April this year was 74 percent, declining compared to the 79 percent recorded in March. In the first four months of the year, the production capacity utilization rate was 73 percent.
