Turkish motor vehicle output up 23 percent in March

In March this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 157,729 units, rising by 23 percent year on year and up 14 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the January-March period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 424,219 units, up 23 percent year on year.
 
In March alone, passenger car output amounted to 109,443 units, increasing by 42 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 48,286 units, down five percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the first three months of this year, passenger car output totaled 300,255 units, up 44 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 123,964 units, down 10 percent, both compared to the same period of 2016.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 98 percent in March this year, while the rate was 88 percent in the January-March period of the year.
