Turkish motor vehicle output up 21 percent in April

In April this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 149,020 units, rising by 21 percent year on year and down 5.5 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the January-April period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 573,239 units, up 22 percent year on year.
 
In April alone, passenger car output amounted to 101,839 units, increasing by 36 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 47,181 units, down three percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the first four months of this year, passenger car output totaled 402,094 units, up 42 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 171,145 units, down eight percent, both compared to the same period of 2016.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 92 percent in April this year, while the rate was 89 percent in the January-April period of the year.
