Turkish motor vehicle output down 2.5 percent in March

In March this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 97,310 units, down 2.5 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the given month, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 61,149 units, up 14.2 percent, while small truck production amounted to 29,903 units, down 23.6 percent, both compared to March 2013.

Meanwhile, in the first three months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 255,492 units, falling 7.8 percent year on year. Passenger car output in the first three months totaled 166,405 units, up 16.8 percent, while commercial vehicle production stood at 89,087 units, down 33.9 percent, both year on year.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in March this year was 72 percent, while it stood at 61 percent in February.
