Turkish motor vehicle market grows 2.4 percent in H1

According to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in the first half of 2010 motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 289,296 units, rising by 2.4 percent as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

In the January-June period of this year, Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 186,305 units, regressing by 1.8 percent year on year.

In the given period, Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 399,339 units, soaring by 43.8 percent, while its passenger car exports amounted to 236,901 units, up 32.1 percent. The revenue for these exports sales totaled $8.14 billion for total motor vehicle exports, rising by 26.8 percent, while the revenue of passenger car exports registered as $3.33 billion, up 31.7 percent, all compared to the first six months of 2009.

In the first half of 2010, Turkey's motor vehicle imports increased by 4.5 percent, while its passenger car imports rose only by one percent, totaling 166,126 units and 126,619 units respectively.
