According to the Turkish
Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in August this year motor vehicle sales in
Turkey totaled 64,539 units, rising significantly by 74 percent as compared to the same month of the previous year and unexpectedly up by 1.29 percent month on month, despite the usual market contraction in the summer season.
In August,
Turkey's passenger car sales amounted to 42,222 units, climbing by 87.3 percent year on year and up by 1.99 percent compared to July this year.
In the given month,
Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 36,685 units, rising by 8.2 percent, while its passenger car exports amounted to 18,718 units, slightly up by 0.8 percent, both on year-on-year basis. The revenue for these exports sales totaled $877.96 million for total motor vehicle exports, down 5.7 percent, including the revenue of passenger car exports registered as $252.45 million, down 17.9 percent, both compared to the same month last year.
In August this year,
Turkey's motor vehicle imports increased by 91.6 percent year on year, while its passenger car imports rose by 92.6 percent, totaling 40,277 units and 31,359 units respectively.
