Turkish home appliance output up 8.5 percent in January

Domestic sales in Turkey's home appliance market contracted by 0.8 percent on year-on-year basis in January this year, totaling 443,322 units, according to the data released by the Turkish Home Appliance Industrialists Association (BESD). The country's home appliance sales in January decreased 1.35 percent compared to December last year. In the whole of 2012, Turkey's home appliance sales to the domestic market had amounted to 6,458,777 units, down by just 0.2 percent compared to 2011.
 
According to the BESD's data, in January home appliance output in Turkey increased by 8.5 percent year on year to 1,560,241 units. In January this year, Turkey's home appliance exports were up 18.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, amounting to 1,136,028 units, while Turkey's domestic appliance imports in January totaled 88,496 units, double compared to January 2012.
