Turkish construction activity regresses in 2009

In the last quarter of 2009, the number of hours worked in construction in Turkey decreased by 14.6 percent year on year, according to data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), while the decline rate on quarter-on-quarter basis was recorded at 1.6 percent.

Meanwhile, in the given period, the number of persons employed in construction regressed by 16.5 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2008 and was down one percent quarter on quarter.
