Turkish automotive industry operates at 68 percent in July

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), in July 2009 Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 88.198 units, decreasing by 25 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Meanwhile, the country's passenger car production amounted to 54,873 units in the month in question, retreating by 19 percent year on year. The commercial vehicle output of the country totaled 31,715 units in July, with a yearly decrease of 33 percent.

In the first seven months of 2009, Turkey's total motor vehicle production amounted to 488,589 units, down 42 percent year on year, while the passenger car output totaled 300,802 units, with a yearly decrease of 33 percent. The production of commercial vehicles fell by 53 percent in January-July period to 179,473 units.

In July 2009, the capacity usage of automotive manufacturers in motor vehicle production was 68 percent, while their capacity usage in January-July period of the current year was 54 percent.
