In the January-October period of this year, motor vehicle sales in Turkey totaled 569,615 units, decreasing by 16 percent year on year, according to the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD). Meanwhile, in October of the current year motor vehicle sales in the country saw an increase of 15 percent compared to the same month of 2013, totaling 69,271 units. In the first ten months of this year, passenger car sales in Turkey amounted to 417,582 units, decreasing by 16 percent year on year. In October, passenger car sales increased by eight percent year on year to 45,131 units.
On the other hand, in the first ten months of this year Turkey's motor vehicle exports came to 772,518 units, up six percent, while its passenger car exports amounted to 478,352 units, up 21 percent, both year on year. The country exported 218,342 small trucks in the period in question, down 14 percent year on year. Revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports in the first ten months of this year amounted to $19.1 billion, rising by eight percent, while the revenue from passenger car exports totaled $6.11 billion, rising by eight percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In the January- October period of the current year, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 376,293 units, while passenger car imports totaled 308,861 units, decreasing by 19 percent and 21 percent year on year, respectively.
