Turkey’s steel import value up 15.1 percent in April

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in April this year Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $1.8 billion, increasing by 15.1 percent year on year and up 10.3 percent compared to March. Iron and steel ranked third among the most imported products of the country in the given month. In April, articles of iron or steel were not included among the 20 most imported products in Turkey.
 
Meanwhile, in the first four months of 2012 the country's iron and steel imports stood at $6.6 billion, increasing by 4.2 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
