Turkey’s steel billet exports down 27 percent in February

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in February this year Turkey's steel billet and bloom exports amounted to 201,888 metric tons, decreasing by 27.25 percent year on year and up 16.25 percent compared to January this year. Meanwhile, in February the revenue generated by Turkey's steel billet exports totaled $125.45 million, decreasing 22.75 percent compared to February 2011 and up 22.6 percent month on month.

Meanwhile, in the first two months of 2012 Turkey's steel billet exports declined by 10.3 percent to 375,550 metric tons, while the revenue for these exports stood at $227.75 million, down by 6.5 percent, both compared to the same period of 2011.

In the January-February period of this year, Turkey almost doubled its steel billet exports to Saudi Arabia, while the country's steel billet exports to Egypt decreased by 24.1 percent, both compared to the first two months of 2011.
