In June this year,
Turkey's
scrap import volume decreased by 16.4 percent year on year and was down 14.11 percent month on month to 1.46 million metric tons, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $398.08 million, down 39.3 percent year on year and falling by 13.4 percent compared to the previous month.
In the first six months of this year,
Turkey's
scrap imports amounted to 8.47 million mt, falling 12.9 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 33.3 percent to $2.46 billion, both compared to the same period of 2014.
In the January-June period this year,
Turkey imported 1,759,833 mt of
scrap from the US, down 8.59 percent year on year, with the US ranking as
Turkey's leading
scrap import source, ahead of Russia which supplied 1,232,826 mt in the given period, down 13.01 percent year on year.
