In April this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 100,624 mt, rising by 1.08 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month was $33.2 million, down 20.9 percent compared to April 2014.
Meanwhile, in the first four months of last year, Turkey's pig iron imports declined by 9.6 percent to 320,810 mt, while the value of these imports decreased by 24.2 percent to $115.1 million, both on year-on-year basis.
In the January-April period this year, Turkey imported 212,890 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 91.94 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 95,605 mt, down 55.83 percent year on year.
