In April this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 1.02 million metric tons, rising by 31.8 percent year on year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports amounted to $87.68 million, down 21.9 percent year on year.
In the January-April period, Turkey imported 3.54 million mt of iron ore, up 30.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while the value of these imports decreased by 15.9 percent year on year to $333.97 million.
In the January-April period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 1.75 million mt, up 106.84 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 658,940 metric tons, down 11.57 percent, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Ukraine in the given period amounted to 384,020 metric tons, up 11.99 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
