In September this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 950,101 metric tons, rising 12.77 percent year on year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports amounted to $73.5 million, down 26.55 percent year on year.
In the January-September period, Turkey imported 7.51 million mt of iron ore, up 18.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while the value of these imports decreased by 24.4 percent year on year to $628.7 million.
In the January-September period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 3.43 million mt, up 44.66 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 1,322,341 metric tons, up 0.26 percent, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Russia in the given period amounted to 1,118,153 metric tons, down 5.22 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
