Turkey’s ferroalloy imports up 15 percent in Jan over Dec

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in January this year Turkey's ferroalloy imports rose 14.9 percent compared to the previous month of December and were down 10.7 percent compared to January 2011, totaling 35,829 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $49 million, increasing by 5.8 percent as compared to December and down 28.4 percent year on year.

In January, Ukraine was Turkey's biggest source of ferroalloys with 13,355 metric tons, decreasing by 31.5 percent compared to January 2011 and rising approximately three times compared to the previous month. Turkey's second biggest source of ferroalloy imports in January was India with 6,900 metric tons, increasing by 72.6 percent compared to the previous month and down 26.9 percent year-on-year.
