Turkey's automotive sales up 52.8 percent in January-May

In May this year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey increased by 40.3 percent year on year and decreased by 10.98 percent month on month to 81,542 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey increased by 35.57 percent year on year and were down by 10.44 percent month on month to 70,211 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles went up by 58.95 percent year on year and decreased by 12.74 percent month on month to 18,664 units.
 
Meanwhile, in the January-May period this year domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles increased by 52.8 percent year on year, amounting to 346,392 units. In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country increased by 45.71 percent year on year to 260,080 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles rose by 79.06 percent to 86,312 units, both on year-on-year basis.
