Turkey’s wire rod exports up 1.9 percent in January-May

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year Turkey's wire rod exports increased by 43.5 percent year on year to 102,531 metric tons, up 97 percent compared to the previous month. The revenue from these exports amounted to $43.8 million, up 113.6 percent month on month and rising by 35.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

In the January-May period of this year, Turkey's wire rod exports amounted to 374,878 mt, rising by 1.9 percent, while the value of these exports decreased by 20.8 percent to $138.6 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey's largest wire rod export destination was Israel which received 90,317 metric tons. Israel was followed by Egypt with 82,330 metric tons and the US with 51,350 metric tons.
